Job description
Join the tax and private client group of an entrepreneurial full-service law firm, working directly under the chair of the practice. This role can be filled at the senior associate or junior partner level. The target is 1,650 billable hours, well below the typical big-firm load, and the seat is fully remote.
What you'll do
- Handle real estate tax, Section 1031 exchanges, taxation of trusts and estates, and pass-through entities
- Run heavy, in-depth research on complex and novel tax issues
- Draft IRS Circular 230-compliant tax opinions
- Own complex matters and client relationships independently
Compensation
$150,000 to $210,000 for senior associates (5+ years), or $250,000 to $400,000 for junior partners (7 to 8+ years), plus quarterly billable-hour bonuses and a year-end bonus.
Location
Fully remote within the U.S. New York bar admission required. No visa sponsorship.
Requirements
- 5+ years of dedicated tax practice (senior associate) or 7 to 8+ years (junior partner)
- A dedicated tax background, not general estate planning
- Strong technical depth and in-depth tax research experience
- Hands-on experience drafting Circular 230 tax opinions
- Active New York bar admission
- Stable tenure, and a writing sample
- U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship)
