Job description
Build and lead the commercial real estate practice at an a16z-backed, AI-native law firm that is replacing the billable hour with fixed-fee transparency. This is a true founding role: you own the practice end to end, work directly with clients, and define how the firm delivers real estate work as it scales.
What you'll do
- Lead multifamily acquisition, disposition, and joint venture transactions end to end, from diligence through closing
- Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, closing documents, and related transaction agreements
- Oversee title, survey, zoning, environmental, and other property-level diligence
- Coordinate financing, tax, environmental, and corporate specialists where required
- Build the practice's playbooks, checklists, and quality standards
- Work with the firm's AI platform and engineering team to refine legal outputs, and recruit and mentor additional real estate attorneys
Compensation
$250,000 to $300,000 base, with on-target earnings of $350,000 to $450,000, plus competitive equity.
Location
San Francisco based, three to four days a week in office. Remote candidates elsewhere in the U.S. are welcome but travel to San Francisco for the first week of each month. U.S. citizens and green card holders only.
Requirements
- 7+ years of sophisticated commercial real estate transactional experience
- A track record of leading acquisitions, dispositions, or JV deals end to end, not just supporting a partner
- AmLaw 200 firm training or equivalent sophisticated in-house real estate experience
- Fluency in title, survey, zoning, and environmental diligence for commercial and multifamily assets
- Active U.S. bar license in good standing (California admission preferred)
- Builder mentality and genuine interest in AI in legal
- U.S. citizen or green card holder (no visa sponsorship)
