Job description
About the role
Our client is looking for an Operations Manager to run the day-to-day of a high-volume distribution facility — people, process, and throughput. You'll lead a team of shift supervisors and floor staff, own the metrics that matter (safety, accuracy, on-time delivery), and drive the continuous-improvement work that keeps a busy operation humming. It's a hands-on, floor-present role with real P&L visibility and the autonomy to actually change how the work gets done.
About the company
An established, growing distribution and fulfillment company (privately held, several hundred employees across multiple sites) that ships to customers nationwide. They're investing heavily in automation and process as they scale, and they have a strong internal-promotion culture — most of their site and regional leaders started on the floor. Stable, profitable, and genuinely operator-led.
What you'll do
- Manage daily operations across receiving, put-away, fulfillment, and shipping
- Lead, coach, schedule, and develop a team of 25–40 across multiple shifts
- Own KPIs for safety, labor productivity, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery
- Run daily huddles and a weekly operating rhythm; escalate and solve bottlenecks in real time
- Identify and implement process improvements (Lean / Six Sigma / 5S a plus)
- Partner with planning, transportation, and HR to hit service levels and staffing targets
- Champion a culture of safety and accountability on the floor
Compensation & benefits
- $85K–$110K base depending on experience, plus an annual performance bonus
- Medical, dental, and vision from day one
- 401(k) with company match
- 3 weeks PTO to start, plus paid holidays
- Paid parental leave
- Tuition reimbursement and a clear path to Senior / Regional Operations roles
- Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
Requirements
What you'll bring
- 5+ years in operations, including 2+ years directly managing a team
- Experience in distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or 3PL / logistics
- A demonstrated track record of improving throughput, accuracy, safety, or cost
- Working fluency with WMS / ERP systems and the operational data they produce
- Calm, decisive leadership under real-time pressure — comfortable on the floor, not just at a desk
- Strong communication across hourly teams and senior leadership
- Bonus: Lean / Six Sigma certification, or experience standing up new processes or automation
