Job description
About the role
A funded Chicago logistics-tech company is hiring a Full Stack Engineer to build customer-facing tools used by thousands of shippers every day. The stack is TypeScript end to end — React on the front, Node services on the back, Postgres underneath — and you'll work across all of it, from database schema to the pixels a customer sees.
What you'll do
- Ship product features across the full stack, from data model to polished UI
- Design and build APIs and the React interfaces that consume them
- Partner with design and product in short, iterative cycles to get features in front of customers quickly
- Improve the performance, reliability, and observability of a high-traffic operations dashboard
- Write meaningful tests and take part in lightweight, blameless code review
- Help shape technical direction and pay down tech debt deliberately, not heroically
- Contribute to a shared component library and the team's engineering standards
Tech stack
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, CI/CD, modern observability tooling
Team & culture
Around 40 engineers across six product teams. Two days a week in a River North office steps from the Merchandise Mart, with a strong in-person engineering culture — pairing, whiteboards, team lunches — and no on-call heroics. Shipping is celebrated; burnout isn't.
Compensation & benefits
- $130,000–$160,000 base plus meaningful equity
- 401(k) match and full medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Home-office stipend and a real learning/conference budget
Requirements
Must-haves
- 4+ years building and shipping production web applications
- Strong TypeScript across both the frontend (React) and backend (Node.js)
- Solid SQL and relational data-modeling fundamentals
- Comfortable owning a feature end to end and making pragmatic trade-offs
- Authorized to work in the United States
Nice to have
- Experience with Next.js and modern React patterns
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
- Background in logistics, marketplaces, or other high-throughput domains
- Experience mentoring or leveling up other engineers
